Hello, I'm Dr. David Coghlan. I'm a paediatrician appointed to the National Children's Hospital (NCH), Tallaght and Our Lady's Hospital Crumlin (OLHC). I run independent clinics at Beacon for Kids, Beacon Hospital, Dublin 18. I qualified from UCD in 1992 and completed my internship at the Mater University Hospital, Dublin. Following my training in General Practice (GP), I decided to pursue a career in Paediatrics and Child Health. After a further two years training in Dublin , I travelled to the Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne as a registrar and then entered a Fellowship Programme. My first consultant appointment was to The Mercy University Hospital Cork and subsequently to the NCH, Tallaght and OLHC.
Paediatrics and the care of children is a rapidly changing specialty. The majority of children are treated as day cases or for short overnight stay to minimise time away from home. This model of care is the way of the future and treating children in their own home is not too far way. This is my philosophy also and something I feel quite strongly about as a doctor and a parent.
Paediatric allergy, respiratory and developmental paediatrics. Further to my specialities we also provide access to dietetic services and allergy testing and lung function testing.
Consultant Paediatrician, National Children's Hospital, Tallaght, Dublin 24, Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin D12, Beacon Hospital and Blackrock Clinic, Co. Dublin.
